Merry Christmas – Jasmine E Photography

Merry Christmas!! Another holiday season is here and I hope you’re Christmas is off to a great start. I got to cook my first Pernil (Puerto Rican Style Pork Shoulder) and a Lazanga which I shared with my family last night for our Christmas Eve dinner. Not to brag about my cooking or anything but I have to say everything tasted pretty darn PERFECT!!!  So perfect in fact, I may be brave enough to try my hand at Pasteles (A traditional Puerto Rican Christmas dish) next year. I’ll have to get my grandma’s recipe though, and pray I have inherited her “Puertorriqueña Iron Chef Hat”. Hmmm, we’ll see.

Well, just like last year. Aloysius, JENNY and I wish you, your family, friends and all your loved ones a blessed and wonderful Merry Christmas!! I hope Santa brings you something awesome!!:)

Makeup… Makeover… Beautiful – Portrait Couture & Glamour in NYC

I love that being a photographer gives me the freedom to creatively impact individual lives in a personal way. Weddings allow me to document the first major milestone taking place in two people’s lives and while I’m always wildly excited to create those monumental life memories,  nothing makes me feel more inspired than when I’m one on one in the Studio . A makeover, how I see YOU through MY eyes.  I love providing the full “photo-shoot” experience – I’ve had my hair and makeup done for photos dozens of times over, and its one of the worlds best kept little secrets. Something every woman should experience at least ONCE in her life.  Makeup, hair, eyelashes, rollers, primping and pampering, a bit of styling on set and then I coach you and move you and coach you again through each pose and expression until we get it just right.

Ardys is a beautiful (smokin’ hot actually) mother of two who wanted something special for her husband this Christmas. She wanted to look like herself, but she wanted to joosh it up a bit, to step out her comfort zone, to experience something she’s never tried before, to make her husband proud and to have something she could be proud of too.  Something a little bit boudoir, a little bit glamour and a whole lot of beautiful.

Stuff I Love: Peter Thomas Roth Glycolic Acid available at Sephora – Portrait Couture & Glamour, NYC

Here’s another goody I’ve been using for the last several weeks. I thought it would be a good idea to hold off on sharing until I was sure I really loved it and I do.

Peter Thomas Roth Glycolic Acid 10% Hydrating Gel available at Sephora.

I LOVE THIS STUFF!

If you don’t already know, glycolic acid is a multipurpose miracle for the skin. It serves as a  powerful exfoliant, acne fighter, pore minimizer, wrinkle reducer and improves any discoloration on the skin all in one.

The long term benefits of glycolic acid are best noticed after several weeks of continued use. The way it works is, this gel is basically a daily mini facial peel. The acids work little by little to get rid of old dead skin cells. It also has moisturizing properties like aloe vera and vitamin E, so this product can also replace your daily moisturizer.

I will warn you that if you’ve never tried any glycolic acid products before, you will probably experience a spicy tingly feeling on your skin.  It’s something to get used to but after a week or 2 of repeaded use,  you don’t feel it at all. I definitely think this product is something to try. I have combinations skin, but have been able to eliminate my moisturizer. My complexion is more even, and even the severity of my breakouts has decreased considerably. I no longer need to use  Proactive. So go to Sephora, and pick up a bottle. If you hate it, you can return it. Go ahead and give it a try.

To the Brides and Grooms dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy – New York City Wedding Photographer

A note to the Hurricane Sandy Brides and Grooms

Today my thoughts are with the couples in the tri-state area struggling with the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy and the wedding plans taking place this weekend. This entire week has been a mess. So much damage, death and destruction. Un-lucky families have lost EVERYTHING, and my heart goes out to everyone dealing with the horrible damage of Hurricane Sandy.

Remember that your union is about your MARRIAGE and not so much about the Wedding. Stay calm, know that you’re loved by the person you want so badly to marry, family and friends will support you all the way and everything will work out the best way it can.

I know this isn’t an easy time for anyone, but please remember to stay positive and focus on the many years of love and growth you will experience together. This too shall pass. Good Luck! – www.jasmineephotography.com
